The Peat District

Went walking in the Peak District in Derbyshire with James. Its the first and therefore through the nature of deduction the oldest national park in Britain. And it was rather nice really. If you don't mind mud that is. I've learnt that although areas are designated as National Parks it doesn't mean that the land is wilderness or even owned by the government. The area we walked in was all working farmland as evidenced by the sheep tracks and stonewalls. Plenty of people live within the national park aswell. There was plenty of Grouse cavorting about on the moors. I was surprised to see any wildlife being winter and all. Its not quite as remarkable as the Lakes District but better than staying at home in soggy Manchester.
